Child & Adolescent Mental Health
Specialized psychiatric care for children and teenagers — because young minds need a different kind of understanding.
When Young Minds Need Expert Care
Child and adolescent mental health is one of the most critical yet underserved areas of psychiatric care in India. At Jai Ram Psychiatry Clinic, we recognize that children are not simply small adults — their developing brains, emotional landscapes, and social environments require a fundamentally different approach to assessment and treatment.
Under the expert care of Dr. Lt. Col. Aanuj Yadav (Retd.), who brings 14 years of diverse psychiatric experience from the Indian Army, we provide a safe, non-judgmental space where children and teenagers can express themselves freely. Parents are regarded as essential partners in the treatment journey — not bystanders. We take the time to understand each child’s unique personality, challenges, and strengths before recommending any intervention.
From behavioral concerns flagged by teachers to emotional difficulties noticed at home, from developmental assessments to ongoing therapeutic support, our child psychiatry services cover the full spectrum of young mental health needs. We specialize in identifying issues early — because timely intervention can fundamentally change a child’s developmental trajectory and long-term well-being.

What to Expect During Your Child’s Assessment
We know that bringing your child to a psychiatrist can feel daunting. Here is exactly what happens — step by step.
Initial Parent Consultation
Dr. Yadav meets with parents to understand concerns, developmental history, family dynamics, and school feedback. The child may or may not be present initially.
Child Evaluation
A gentle, age-appropriate session with the child to observe behavior, communication, emotional responses, and social interaction in a comfortable setting.
Standardized Assessments
Evidence-based screening tools and rating scales administered as needed to support clinical evaluation and diagnosis.
Diagnosis & Discussion
Dr. Yadav discusses findings with parents in detail, explaining the diagnosis (if any), what it means, and what it does NOT mean — dispelling myths and addressing fears.
Treatment Plan
A personalized care plan may include medication, behavioral strategies, school accommodations, family counseling, and scheduled follow-ups to track progress.
