Behavioural Disorder Treatment
Structured, compassionate interventions for behavioral and emotional difficulties in children and adults.
When Behavior Signals a Need for Support
Behavioral disorders encompass a range of conditions characterized by persistent patterns of disruptive, defiant, aggressive, or antisocial behavior that go beyond typical developmental challenges. These behaviors can strain family relationships, disrupt school or work environments, and significantly impact an individual’s quality of life and future prospects.
At Jai Ram Psychiatry Clinic, Dr. Lt. Col. Aanuj Yadav (Retd.) brings a structured, disciplined yet deeply compassionate approach to behavioral disorder treatment. His 14 years in the Indian Army taught him that behavioral change requires both firm boundaries and genuine understanding — a balance that is particularly effective in treating oppositional, conduct, and impulse-control issues.
We do not view challenging behavior as bad behavior. We see it as communication — a signal that something deeper needs attention. Our assessment process identifies underlying causes (which may include ADHD, anxiety, trauma, learning difficulties, or family dynamics) before recommending any treatment approach. Surface-level behavior management without addressing root causes rarely produces lasting change.
Behavioural Conditions We Address
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
Persistent pattern of angry/irritable mood, argumentative/defiant behavior, or vindictiveness toward authority figures lasting 6+ months.
Conduct Disorder
Repetitive and persistent behavior violating others’ rights or age-appropriate societal norms — aggression, destruction, deceitfulness, rule-breaking.
Intermittent Explosive Disorder
Sudden episodes of unwarranted aggressive, violent behavior or verbal outbursts disproportionate to the situation.
Impulse Control Disorders
Difficulty resisting urges or impulses that may be harmful to self or others, including kleptomania and pyromania.
Anger Management Issues
Chronic, excessive anger that interferes with relationships, work, or personal well-being. Often co-occurs with other conditions.
Emotional Dysregulation
Difficulty managing emotional responses, leading to intense mood swings, emotional outbursts, or emotional shutdown.
How We Approach Treatment
Comprehensive Assessment
Every treatment begins with a thorough assessment that explores: Behavioral history and patterns, Family dynamics and home environment, School or workplace functioning, Co-occurring conditions (ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma), Triggers and antecedents, Strengths and protective factors. We use clinical interviews, behavioral rating scales, and information from multiple sources (parents, teachers, partners) to build a complete picture.
Multimodal Treatment
Treatment is always personalized and may include: Behavioral therapy and modification strategies, Parent training and family therapy (for children), Medication when co-occurring conditions require it, Anger management and emotional regulation skills, Social skills training, School liaison and accommodation guidance, Ongoing monitoring and plan adjustment.
Tailored for Different Life Stages
For Children & Adolescents
We focus on parent-child interaction, school collaboration, behavioral reinforcement systems, and developing emotional vocabulary. We work closely with schools when needed to ensure consistency across environments.
