Bipolar Disorder Treatment
Expert management of complex mood disorders — helping you achieve stability, understand your condition, and live a balanced life.
Understanding Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder is a chronic mental health condition characterized by significant mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression). These shifts are far more intense than the normal ups and downs everyone experiences — they can affect sleep, energy, activity, judgment, behavior, and the ability to think clearly.
At Jai Ram Psychiatry Clinic, Dr. Lt. Col. Aanuj Yadav (Retd.) provides specialized, long-term management for bipolar disorder. His 14 years of Army psychiatric experience included handling complex mood disorders under high-stress conditions, giving him unique expertise in stabilizing and managing bipolar presentations that may be complicated by stress, substance use, or co-occurring conditions.
Bipolar disorder requires ongoing, consistent psychiatric care — not just crisis management. Our approach focuses on mood stabilization, relapse prevention, medication optimization, and empowering patients and families with the knowledge to recognize early warning signs of mood episodes.
Types of Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar I Disorder
Characterized by manic episodes lasting at least 7 days, often requiring hospitalization, typically followed by depressive episodes. Mania may involve euphoria, grandiosity, decreased need for sleep, rapid speech, and risky behavior.
Bipolar II Disorder
Characterized by hypomanic episodes (less severe than full mania) and major depressive episodes. Hypomania may not cause significant impairment but depressive episodes can be severe and disabling.
Cyclothymic Disorder
A milder form characterized by numerous periods of hypomanic and depressive symptoms that do not meet full criteria for manic or major depressive episodes, lasting for at least 2 years.
